          The New Boy Scout SCUBA Merit Badge         

Scouts interested in the Scuba Diving Merit Badge should contact Southeastern Divers, Inc. Here are some key facts regarding the merit badge:

• The Scuba Diving Merit Badge is open to all Boy Scouts with some age limitations– see the Scuba Diving Merit Badge Counselor at your PADI Dive Center or Resort for details.
• Scouts earn an open water diver certification as part of the Scuba Diving Merit Badge.
• Completion of the Swimming Merit Badge is a Scuba Diving Merit Badge prerequisite.

Scouts with a current open water diver certification do not have to take the full open water diver course again. They do, however, have to complete the Swimming Merit Badge, present their certification to the merit badge counselor and complete all the other requirements.
