Did you learn everything you will ever want to know about diving in your beginner class?  Of course not.  Nobody learns everything in a beginner class.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to dive at night?  To dive as deep as 130 feet?  To take pictures underwater?  To search for lost objects?  To extend your bottom time by using Nitrox?  If so, we can help you answer these questions with our continuing education classes.

Your education as a diver continues after your basic certification class whether you take additional formal training classes or not.  You learn about diving each and every time you strap a tank on your back and jump in the water.  That leaves you to answer this question, "Do I want to learn about diving by trial and error, or by formal training that will make my diving more fun, more relaxed, and safer?".  Most people will agree that formal training is the best choice.  In addition to the knowledge you will gain from additional training, the courses themselves are a fun way to stay active as a diver, and meet other divers.

The first step in the continuing education process after your basic certification class is the Adventure Diver course.  This course will provide you the opportunity to learn and gain additional experience under the guidance of a professional SCUBA Instructor, not to mention the possibility of meeting other new divers and finding new people to dive with.

The Adventures in Diving Course is a continuation of the Adventure Diver course.  You will complete 2 additional "Adventure Dives" beyond the 3 you did in the Adventure Diver course.  Two of the five dives for the Adventures in Diving course must include the Underwater Navigation and Deep Diver Adventure dives.

These two courses provide the new diver with the opportunity to sample various areas of specialty diving and find out what areas appeal to your interests.  After sampling various specialty dives you may find one that really appeals to your interests.  If you do, there is a complete Specialty Course about that topic.  Upon completion of 5 entire Specialty Courses you will be awarded diving's highest non-professional rating, the PADI Master Diver certification.  Few divers rise to this level so you will be among a very elite group of highly trained and experienced divers.

To really become a safe, competent and confident diver you should enroll in the PADI Rescue Diver course.  Here you will gain the experience and knowledge needed to help yourself or your buddy in the highly unlikely event of a diving emergency.  Without exception, everyone who has taken this course will tell you "this is a must-do course for every diver".

Upon completion of Rescue Diver training it is time to consider entering the world of the professional.  The first leadership level within the PADI system is that of Divemaster.  Here you will increase your knowledge diving to that of the instructor level.  For those interested in Instructor level training we offer the PADI Assistant Instructor program.  The PADI AI program is the first step in becoming a PADI Open Water SCUBA Instructor.  Southeastern Divers, Inc. is the only PADI dive center in Alabama, and one of only a handful in the southeastern U.S., with a full-time PADI Master Instructor on hand offering PADI Assistant Instructor training.

All of the courses mentioned above are provided on a regular basis as well as many of them on a request basis.  If there is a course you are interested in and you don't see it on our schedule of classes, just call your nearest SDI Dive Center and request it!  We'll get you enrolled so that you can start today!

So, as you can see, there's still plenty for you to do and learn as a diver.  Stay active, learn more, and do more.  Enroll in a PADI continuing education course today.
